Reading Labels

I have spent the last several weeks at the hospital while my wonderful husband is recovering from an unexpected surgery. A couple days ago, one of the young grandchildren and I were eating in the hospital cafeteria and noticed all the letters on the condiment containers on our trays! We went right to work finding letter after letter after letter.

Looks like we found letters on the dressings. Alot of great upper case letters. We also talked about the colors on packaging and the colors of the letters.

Finding the letters was easy on the relish, mustard, and catsup. Here the letters were smaller. Of course, he found letters in his name right away.

These two packages gave a great opportunity to talk about sizes and colors, too

Sensory talk was easy with the package. Sliding fingers across the tops, sides, and edges to feel smooth, slippery, bumpy, etc.

What fun we have noticing our environment and finding letters at lunch! You can do this too…but, without going to the hospital!
